Crews from western Pa responded to five different structure fires on Thursday.
Area structure fire report for Thursday March 16th, 2017:
Just before 10am crews responded to Dille Run Road in Morris Township in Washington county to battle a residential structure fire. The two story log cabin home was destroyed, and the fire was fueled by high winds. The Observer-Report has more at this link
Around 2:30am a cigarette apparently caused a fire in an East Erie fire in Erie on East 6th Street. Per ErieNewsNow.com, a discarded cigarette was to blame that caused the fire to start in a spare bedroom. One resident was rescued from the roof after trying to extinguish the fire himself. Crews battled a barn fire on Garvers Ferry Rd in Allegheny Twp, Westmoreland county which was also fueled by high winds. The owners suffered some burns trying to save some of the animals, and were able to save 2 pigs and and 3 baby goats. 5 goats were unable to be saved. AKVNEWS.com has more on the fire at this link. Two other fires occurred in Westmoreland county around 8pm on Thursday evening.
Firefighters in the Larimar section of North Huntingdon responded to a vehicle fire that extended into the house on Calvin Lane. There was also a residential structure fire on Baggaley Avenue in the Youngstown section of Unity Twp. No injuries were reported at either of those fires.
