Updates Coming Soon

Its time to wipe the dust off the site and get this place freshened up some.  Look for new articles real soon.

Digging Out

I would like to apologize for the lack of updates to the site over the past week.  My first due area was heavily hit by the winter storms that rolled through.  I was without power until Tuesday evening and we are still answering storm related calls.

Site updates will resume as soon as possible.  Stay safe out there.

Hoopie World Now Easier to View on Mobile Devices

For those of you that haven’t tried yet, Hoopie World is now much more mobile friendly as there is a new layout for when you are viewing the site via an iPhone, Droid, iPod Touch or any other mobile device of your choice.  Its much more organized by articles and dates.

For those of you whom don’t like change, there is still an option on the bottom of the page to switch back to the regular view.

So for those of you with mobile devices, give it a try and let me know if you like it or not.

Site Update: Featured Video Section Changed

Just wanted to sent a quick note that the video’s on the right side of the site under the “Featured Video” section have been updated to only show news from a couple of the local Pittsburgh stations.  Prior to this the news in that section was firefighting related from across the world.  The decision was made to keep the section more in tune to the site theme and just show local news.  Hoopie World will continually monitor to look for more stations, especially the Erie stations and add them if they become available.  Currently WTAE and WPGH offer video news clips to publishers.  Thanks and stay safe out there.

Fire Incident Audio Added

Four more incidents have been added to the Fire Audio section, including the Fox Chapel Mews apartment fire in O’Hara Twp that is in the wrap up stages at the time of this writing, two Millvale fires from earlier in this month, and a motor vehicle accident in Marshall Twp that happened in June.

Visit the Fire Audio page here.

Revamped Video Section

For those of you who haven’t noticed yet, the video section of the site is being revamped.  If you have a video from an incident, a departmental video, a tribute video, or any other type of emergency video that you would like posted be sure to contact us so that we can link to it.  We would like to grow this section of the site to have a nice collection of western PA fire videos.

Two more audio clips have been added in the audio section.  They are from the beginning of January and include a residential structure fire in Hampton Township and a motor vehicle accident in Shaler Township on Route 8.

Two more site links were added as well, they are for Belle Vernon VFC – Station 4 in Fayette county, and Lower Burrell #3 in Westmoreland county.  Check them out when you get a chance.

Fire Audio and New Link Added

Fire Audio from a January 21st residential structure fire in Indiana Twp added.  Also added a link to Bellevue Fire Rescue Station 108.
