ERIE, Pa. — Erie police charged a 61-year-old man with arson in connection with a fire Tuesday afternoon at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
No one was injured and no serious damage was done, police said.
Police charged Steven Quigley, who they said was living in homeless shelters in Erie. He was arraigned and placed in the Erie County Prison on $50,000 bond.
Firefighters were called to the church at 130 E. Fourth St. for a fire at the church at about 2 p.m.
“There was a gentleman in the church that started a couple fires,” said Guy Santone, chief fire investigator for the Erie Bureau of Fire. “We had the police called in and got a good description off the (church’s video) cameras,” he said.

The structure was full involved upon arrival and also had interior collapse forcing units on scene to go to an exterior attack.

Shortly before 1am on Tuesday, December 30th, crews were alerted to Friendship Avenue in the city of Duquesne for a working residential structure fire.
Police arrived on scene and confirmed a working fire. There was also reports of possible entrapment.
Initial crews arrived to meet very heavy fire conditions and the flooring on the first story was compromised quickly. The intense fire was battled for about 3 hours prior to being under control.
Multiple firefighters suffered injuries at the scene, including a back injury and a leg injury. Everyone on scene had to deal with icy conditions due to the temperature.
Unfortunately, a woman lost her life in the fire. A dog was rescued, but another dog did not make it out.

Crews battled a huge fire in Johnstown early this morning, that completely destroyed 3 houses, and severely damaged a fourth.
The fire occurred on Dorothy Avenue and the first house on fire was reported to be a vacant structure.
Crews are still investigating on the cause.
No injuries were reported.

At 1 am on Thursday 12/4/14, emergency crews were alerted to a vehicle accident with entrapment at the intersection of Mansfield Rd and Boston Hollow Rd (Rt 48) in Elizabeth Twp.
Crews arrived to find the accident on Mansfield Rd with a SUV on its side and one person trapped.
Rescue crews stabilized the vehicle and cut the roof off to get patient access and free the driver.
Units on scene included 140 Rescue 7 (Central), 184 Engine (Lincoln), 140 Rescue 4 (Greenock), 140 Squad 7 (Central), and 140 Engine 3 (ETFD 1).
Elizabeth Twp EMS provided emergency medical services on scene. Elizabeth Twp police were also on scene handling police duties and traffic control.
